The first question I asked to myself was " How this package is going to be related to Turkey and when I see this package I am going to be able to understand if this package represents Turkey or not ?" So first thing I thought was the shape of the box. That was the most important and challenging part. I had to find a shape which I will make a connection to Turkey. My first idea was making a star which will stand by it self and a moon at the top like a hanger for the star. Inside of the star i was going to put the necklace but with the critiques I saw that everything was just about star and moon. So I restarted again and thinking of Turkey, the traditions, the culture and the history I came up with this idea:
On my wall at home there is this ceramic which has the shape of traditional Turkish dress which we call it " Kaftan ".
A kaftan is a man's cotton or silk cloak buttoned down the front, with full sleeves, reaching to the ankles and worn with a sash
The kaftans worn by the Ottoman sultans constitute one of the most splendid collections of Topkapı Palace in Istanbul. Some of them were so precious that they were given as rewards to important dignitaries and victorious generals during elaborate religious festivals. Nowadays this dress is the traditional dress for a Turkish girl who is getting married. Before the wedding the bride celebrates her last night with her family, friends and grooms family but no male is allowed to the traditional ceremony. That night the bride and all the single females wear Kaftan and sing the traditional songs all together. The fabric and the motifs for the dress is hand made.
So the dresses were my inspirations! I got used to this idea and thought more about it. So what was the material I was going to use and if I am going to make a box in the shape of the dress or make a display with the dress and glued to a regular chipboard box. For the material of the dress I found some interesting Islamic Art mosaic and patterns. They were kind of looking similar to the patterns which were on my wall. One is from ceramics pattern for the dress and the other one is the rug pattern for the box.
Carpets, whether knotted or flat woven (hummas) are among the best known art forms produced by the Turks from time immemorial. There are environmental, sociological, economic, and religious reasons for the widespread art of carpet weaving among the Turkish people from Central Asia to Turkey.

So I think ceramics and rugs are the most distinguishing art elements in Turkey. Because I cannot use ceramics and find the exact rug I have to print the images and glue the images to the dress . I though printing image for the dress cannot be attractive so i found my own kaftan that I worn at my cousins ceremony last here, so I thought that can be an interesting idea for the shape of the dress with its own fabric.
Here is my dress :
For my first model I wanted to display the necklace on the dress which was going to stand by it self and then making a box for the display. To be sure i did not want to cut the dress first so used the images of the patterns. The blue ceramic for the shape of the dress and rug for the box.
To protect the display I made a box
I did the box too large cause first I was going to put a metal referring as it is the head like a human wearing this dress and this necklace.
So as we can see this is a really quick model I had made so I did not glue the images to the inside of the box and did not to the front cause now it has some problems as how I am going to take the necklace each time.
With the head now I am little bit confused the object that i am trying to sell cause it is too big that you cannot focus on the necklace so that's why i am changing the ideas to make small box with the patterns and the top of the box will only have the shape of the dress with its on material by cutting the real dress I have.
